Please mark your calendars for February 5, 2020 at 6:00 pm. We will be holding an important meeting of our chapter which will be crucial to getting the chapter back into operation. We need as many of our members at this meeting as possible so we can vote on new officers and making the chapter viable again. The Meeting will be held at the University of Memphis Culinary Institute, 1245 N. Germantown Parkway, Suite 101, Cordova TN 38016. This is the location of the old L’Ecole Culinaire school. Please make plans to be present at this meeting.
On New Year’s Day, Chef Edward Nowakowski passed away in New York. His funeral was at the cemetery of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestchowa in Doylestown, PA.
On February 15, we will gather for a Memorial Mass to celebrate his homegoing.Ed and Julia lived and worked here in Memphis for many years, so we know there are many people who would like to say good-bye and visit with others who knew him well.
The Mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM on February 15th, at the Church of the Nativity, 5955 St. Elmo Rd in Bartlett, 38135.
It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Chef Edward Nowakowski. In the last few weeks Ed went to the doctor because he was getting so very tired and was suffering with pains. Examination showed he had advanced stomach cancer. The funeral will be held on Monday, 12:30 PM, at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Doylestown, PA, next to his loving wife Julia. We are all in shock about his passing. We know that Edward was a mentor and good friend to so many people here in Memphis, and I’m sure in many other locations where he worked. He will be sorely missed.
Go with God, Chef Ed!
